Your talent

I'm a visual artist.

Where you're from?

The Kiberia District in Nairobi.

Why did you get interested in art?

From early childhood, I don't know specifically from where my interest developed.

What are you up to now?

I work with more than seven artists at the M2 Art studio in Kiberia. I have a couple of certificates from community outreach projects.

What was your best piece of art and why?

An image of Raila the ODM Leader, wearing anti riot gear and holding a baton. It depicted the real situation during the election skirmishes.

Is there any place in Kenya that inspires you in terms of your art?

All of the ghettos in Kenya.

If you could pick your dream wildlife destination in Kenya - where would it be and what would you get up to there?

I would choose the Maasai Mara Game Reserve for the wildebeest migration, which is a wonder of the world.

What do you love about the Kenyan people?

They are very dynamic, having no specific culture, especially the urbanites.

Who out of musical/artistic influences would make the best game viewing partner?

I love Snoop Dogg and I would take him because it would be a very chilled game viewing experience. No doubt, the M2 crew, because they are my role models.

How does it feel to be in Kenya now - what are travellers missing out on?

The ruins and the aftermath before they have been fully constructed are a constant reminder - but it still feels great to be here and travellers should come to Kenya.

Can you give adventurers the inside track on travel in your home destination - what should they bring to Kenya?

A camera and a pair of boots or sneakers for cruising the ghettos.

What would be the first words you'd utter to a tourist if you hooked up with them on the street, and where's the first place you'd take them in downtown Nairobi?

I would probably say "Mambo" or wassup" and take them to the Kibera slum to visit the M2 Art Studio. It would be a truly inspiring trip.

"Must have" phrases for adventurers in Kenya?

"Mambo niaje" (Wassup)
"Nisaidie" (Help me)
"Kwaheri" (Goodbye)
