THREE NEW ARTISTS JOIN CRAZY ABOUT KENYA
Joseph Koi is a self-trained artist from Msabaha in the Malindi District. He became interested in art after watching other artist's work, and from an early age he took on art as a hobby. He has liaised with many other artists like Elzbieta Krawecka, (Canada) his teacher in 1996, Steve Lance (Kenya) and 26 international artists for the Kuona workshop in 2006. In 2007, he was chosen to be among four Kenyans to go to the "Thupelo" Cape Town workshop in South Africa.
Samuel Ouko is from from Nyanza, but lives in Nairobi. He was always fascinated by nature and just found a way of recording what he liked. Samuel studied for a diploma in drawing and painting. Now he is a freelance illustrator working on a storybook for children. He believes that Kenya in itself is a wonderful combination, the mountains, the valleys and the plains forming a perfect sculpture - the wonderful colours of the plants, the wild, the sky, the waters and the people breathing life into the landscape.
Geofrey Njaara Muc Iimi from Nairobi was also attracted to art by the nature he sees all around him. He is now working on a collection of new paintings including, portraits, landscapes and still life.
All of the artists stem from the Kuona Trust: Kuona Trust, Godown Arts Centre, Dunga Road, PO Box 4802, Nyayo Stadium 0506, Tel: (254 20) 550980, 557305 Telefax 557288, www.kuonatrust.org
